Sierra Leone president, Julius Maada Bio has tested negative for covid-19 after a 15-day solation, after his bodyguard tested positive to coronavirus, according to a message on his Twitter.
“After my fifteen-day self-isolation period, all tests for #coronavirus are negative. I am very healthy and determined as ever to fight this Corona pandemic in Sierra Leone,” his tweet read
President Bio entered self-isolation after the confirmation of his bodyguard positive result for the coronavirus. Though he continued to pilot the affairs of the State from home. He is not set to return his office on Wednesday.
I have directed the military to immediately deploy to our international airport and land crossing points in order to enhance security and support compliance with all public health directives advisories.
Sierra Leone is currently under a three day nationwide lockdown that ends tomorrow. Maada Bio imposed it to contain community transmission of the virus. Number of cases in the west African nation as of May 4 were as follows: 166 confirmed cases, 7 deaths with 29 recoveries.
